The GBLT community of London Ontario has always been very active. HALO (Homophile Association of London Ontario) was established in 1970 following the historic Stonewall Rebellion of 1969. The University of Western Ontario is also home to the Pride Library. Two hours from Toronto London is a welcome break from the frenetic pace of Toronto while still providing an impressive selection of gay-friendly restaurants and nightclubs. Lavish, located downtown on Dundas Street, is the favored nightspot. The VIA train station and Greyhound bus station are located right downtown making London a great destination for the gay eco-tourist. Everything required for an engaging weekend or day trip is all within walking distance including the well-known John Labatt Centre venue for Cher, Elton John, and a host of well known performers. The user friendly size of the JLC makes it an ideal venue to see world renowned performances by your favorite stars. The historic Grand Theatre, where every seat is a good seat, is also located in the core. The Delta London Armouries Hotel has been an active sponsor and venue for many gay events while the Hilton and Comfort Inn are also within walking distance.
